I had such a great time at the FABulously Chic Summer Soiree event last week! It was great to see Kim again, and I was fortunate enough to meet some other equally amazing ladies that night as well. I got there on time, and was happy to be able to wait for the start of the event indoors. I hate waiting for ANYTHING, so I wasn’t exactly tickled to have to wait, but we’d had another warm summer day that day, and a seat inside was more than welcomed.
When we we were formally welcomed in to the start of the event, I was happily the first lady to get a free manicure! Amaaaazing feature of the event. Can’t say enough how much I loved this! I was in need of one, and was more than pleased to discover a new line, DIOSA Nails & Polish. While the friendly technician worked on my hands, I got a chance to speak with the beautiful founder of the company Diana L. Long.
It’s here! It’s here!! My baby Ken Dahl did it again! A few short weeks ago we met up to shoot the video for his latest single “Getchu A Man” wait for it….. OFF OF HIS NEW ALBUM!!!
We met up with the amazing Mikhail Torich in a Brooklyn studio to make the magic happen. With the assistance of Davide Laffe & Gosha Koshkin on set, Kelly Marie Fraticelli with makeup, Jay Parel & Ivan Leon as dancers, Nate Jones as Shaquanamanesha, and the models (including yours truly) we brought Ken’s vision to life. I’ve never not had a good time on set with Ken and crew. I’m so proud of the growth I’ve seen in Ken from his first video to now. He’s such a hard worker. We’ve really become a cohesive family; Ken really knows some amazing people. Check out the video and some behind the scenes shots below. AND, make sure to check out Ken Dahl’s new album on iTunes here.
After going to the curlBox/Karen’s Body Beautiful meet up I’ve been committed to getting up and getting out more. When I saw that my friend Kim Porter of Makeup by Kim Porter was teaming up with Janique of Her Goody Bag, I knew I had an event I couldn’t miss.
Being held at Shic By Soketah, I’m excited to finally see the salon I know Kim has been patronizing religiously for years. I’m also slowly falling in love with this area of Brooklyn, so an event here? I’m there. I’ve seen Her Goody Bag around the internets before, but after seeing that Kim was partnering up with the site, my interest was definitely piqued. So, I visited, perused and fell in love. It’s definitely one of my new guilty pleasures. It’s a fashion blog sprinkled with amazing lifestyle posts. Kim has long been one of my favorite bloggers (specifically her mommy blog Beauty and the Bump which I religiously checked during her pregnancy) and I’m definitely not surprised that she’d partner up with Janique after seeing her blog.
Now, I go through my makeup phases, but makeup has never been something I was ever extra concerned about. My “always running late” lifestyle is not conducive to putting on face before leaving the house no matter how quickly I can learn to do it. My current personal usage aside, when I have extra funds, my haunting spots at the mall are always Sephora, H&M and Forever21…. without fail. Clothes, clothes, and oddly enough some makeup lol. With that in mind, this event is all the way up my alley……*insert pause at your discression*.
In particular, I’m extra excited about the mini makeovers, express manicures and styling tips this event will provide. Aaaand there’s a goody bag (praying for some coupon codes and makeup samples!)! Considering I’m beginning to build my blogs presence and establish my brand, I’m fully aware of how important presentation is. Considering I AM my brand, I couldn’t be more excited to see what all I can benefit from attending this meetup. Attendance is free so add your name to the wait list (the event is already sold out!!! Glad I didn’t wait until the last minute!) and hopefully I’ll see you at the Makeup by Kim Porter & Her Goody Bag FAB-ulously Chic Summer Soiree this Tuesday, July 24th! I’m confident these ladies will not disappoint!
So I decided to have a birthday party
This year, I’ll be entering my rockstar year, 27. As I’m sure many of you know, many of our worlds greatest artists met their fate at this tender age (e.g. Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse), joining The 27 Club. LORD knows I don’t wan’t to join THAT club, but looking at how these people affected our world in such a short time, I see I’ve got a lot more work to do (totally sans the hard drugs and alcohol abuse). Sunday, August 12 join me, my host Naté “Little Miss MTV” Jones and Mr. 8000 himself DJ GMoney at Tase of Honey in Hempstead, NY as we welcome me, Ms.Vixin into my 27th year. Might as well begin it right.Read More»
On June 21st I made the trek out to Brooklyn for the Karen’s Body Beautiful/curlBox meet up; there was no way I was going to miss a chance to meet Myleik in person! I made the trip sans AC in damn near 100 degree weather, so by the time I got there, I was NOT pleased to discover I had to wait on line to enter. Thankfully I found great parking about two blocks away so I wasn’t in a mood from the walk. On my way to the shop, I stopped at a vendor’s table on the corner of Waverly and Myrtle. I had the pleasure of meeting and having a really nice convo with Sharon and purchased a few items. It was nice to begin my evening with such a warm and friendly spirit. She set the night off just perfectly for me. Thanks Sharon. Shortly after speaking with Sharon, I made my way across the street to wait on line. It turns out, that even though it was only an hour into the event, the shop had reached it’s max capacity and we had to wait until some ladies left, before more of us could get in.Read More»
