My Makeup By Kim Porter & Her Goody Bag Fabulously Chic Summer Soiree Experience

0

I had such a great time at the FABulously Chic Summer Soiree event last week! It was great to see Kim again, and I was fortunate enough to meet some other equally amazing ladies that night as well. I got there on time, and was happy to be able to wait for the start of the event indoors. I hate waiting for ANYTHING, so I wasn’t exactly tickled to have to wait, but we’d had another warm summer day that day, and a seat inside was more than welcomed.

When we we were formally welcomed in to the start of the event, I was happily the first lady to get a free manicure! Amaaaazing feature of the event. Can’t say enough how much I loved this! I was in need of one, and was more than pleased to discover a new line, DIOSA Nails & Polish. While the friendly technician worked on my hands, I got a chance to speak with the beautiful founder of the company Diana L. Long.

I’ve grown particularly fond of not only the perfect nude polish she has that I had to enhance my life with, but with what her company stands for. Diana feels that nail polish is an accessory that adds to the woman who’s wearing it, and should showcase who she is. She feels that the Diosa woman is one who should inspire and be a role model. I can’t wait to see the stories of the women she chooses to showcase. Diosa, which is Spanish for goddess is made in the good ole US of A, is vegan friendly and doesn’t contain harmful chemicals such as formaldehyde and camphor. For more info wiggle your fingers to their Facebook page here and follow the Twitter account here. I personally can’t wait to get my hands on some more colors.

After I let my nails dry a bit, I has happy that one of the cute servers Ian came to offer me one of the many amazing hors d’oeuvres by Chef Shani of @71atechef. One, I love the word play in her name. Being a 718 girl myself, I think its genius. And two, I learned I actually like goat cheese lol; the chicken skewers were my favorite. As I waited to have my face beat by Kim, I totally blew the budget I’d been so good at sticking to for the past couple of weeks with two purchases from Shelly of Natty Boutique. The owner Shelly was so warm and personable, she totally made it easy for me to give her my money lol. There were plenty of amazing pieces to choose from, but two in particular caught my eye. I got this sick teal dress the hugs my little curves oh so well. I basically have to pour myself in it, but it fits me like a dream once I’m in there. I also couldn’t say no to a sea foam green top with gold link straps. I can position it so that my stomach shows and the back tails out nicely. Both pieces came to about $75 and with my level of satisfaction on how I look in them? I’m not mad at all. Theres no way posting a pic of them is going to do it justice so you’ll just have to wait until I step out in em. Guarantee you’ll love both pieces on me.

After I purchased my pieces (which I’m DYING to wear) from Natty Boutique, I had the pleasure of sitting down with my boo Kim of Makeup By Kim Porter! I was going out later that night, so I’d told her I just wanted something light, and she delivered with ease. I was more than pleased with my finished look and so were the guys I passed on my way to the car lol. It was also really nice to run into Shannon and Rachel!! I hadn’t seen these beautiful ladies since we were back in college and it was so nice to be in the same building together again.

After sitting and catching up with Kim, I was sadly in a rush to make it back to queens for another engament. But, there was no way I could end the night without speaking to Janique of Her Goody Bag. I feel in love with her style blog because not only does it incorporate style and fashion, but there are great lifestyle posts as well. There is a nice aray of info on her blog and I had to let her know I loved what she was doing.

Between the cocktails, candy bar, delicious food, free manicures, mini make overs, style advice and vendors at the event, I couldn’t have asked for a nicer end to my Tuesday. The location was the beautiful Shic By Soketah salon on Myrtle and Classon Ave in Brooklyn, NY and it made for the perfect backdrop for mingling and pampering. I can’t wait to see what these ladies put together next.
