Ouidad Curl Recovery Product Review!!
I got my hands on some great new product guys!! Ouidad sent me both their Curl Recovery Ultra Nourishing Cleansing Oil and Curl Recovery Whipped Curls Daily Conditioner & Styling Primer. Now, ya’ll already know how I feel about Ouidad. I’ve had nothing but success with their products thus far. But rest assured that I’ll give you my honest review. Let’s get into it.
Curl Recovery Ultra Nourishing Cleansing Oil
For one it smells like heaven. After my share of product swaps at hair meet ups, I can assure you that you’re not the only person who won’t use a product because of its smell. This stuff smells like unicorns and happiness in a bottle and I was really excited to use it. The main purpose of the brands first oil based cleanser is to remove dirt from root to tip gently and while restoring moisture; leaving your hair soft, shinny and full of body. Now for the fancy stuff inside: Ouidad CR-4 Repair Complex, Mafura Butter & Kalahari Melon Seed Oil. All of this awesome uses fatty acids to coat our hair shaft, along with coconut oil and silk protein. Together, they serve as hydrating and protecting agents helping to resist damage.
After my usage, my hair felt stronger, so all of those oils definitely went to work. It didn’t feel soft, but it felt moisturized if that makes sense. I know a few naturals who don’t like that soft, delicate, airy feel, so if that’s you, this is definitely worth a try for you. I didn’t pre-poo or detangle before hand, so I experienced EXTREME tangling. Full disclosure, I hadn’t even ran my fingers through my hair for over a week before hand. I’d had a bomb ass twist out using other Ouidad product (there will be a review for that as well; hang tight) that I was trying to hang on to but I wanted fresh hair for my vacation so I had to let it go. Anyway, after using the Ultra Nourishing Cleansing Oil my hair was sooo tangled! I mean it was tangled before I got it wet, but getting it wet definitely didn’t help. I definitely recommend some type of detangling before you attempt to shampoo your hair using ANY product and would go as far as suggesting you shampoo in sections. I’m learning as I go that that gives me the best results. Most of all, I liked that my hair felt good and clean after usage. I’d had a lot of product build up over the week (after very successfully using the Whipped Curls Daily Conditioner & Styling Primer along with their Botanical Boost Moisture Infusing & Refreshing Spray for about three days to revive my already days old curls) and was pleased with its cleansing capabilities.
Curl Recovery Whipped Curls Daily Conditioner & Styling Primer
This product packs a lot of punch into one slender canister. Triple Olive Oil blend, Shea Butter Glycerin and Green Tea Extract combine to moisturize, strengthen, eliminate frizz, intensify shine, and provide environmental and antioxidant protection. The icing on the cake about this product is that it can be used in many ways. Being suitable for daily use you can slap it on as a conditioner to revive your curls or as a hair primer before adding your styling product. Personally, I prefer and LOVE it as a refresher on DRY hair. All the directions say to use on damp or wet hair but it worked best in my hair when dry. I used it on day 3, 4 and 5 hair and looooved the results. I find that following the directions doesn’t always mean the product will work best for my hair. You have to know your hair and try things a few different ways before you can say something doesn’t work. I used it as a conditioner on wet hair after using the Nourishing Cleansing Oil and I’ve got to say I loved it more as a refresher. For those of you curlies with tight coils like mine, I STRONGLY suggest you detangle before using as you’ll be distracted by the frustration of detangling your hair and miss that fact that your hair actually feels moisturized and stronger; I know I almost did.
Overall, this is marked as another win in my Ouidad book. I can’t express enough to ya’ll how much I love the Whipped Curls Daily Conditioner & Styling Primer as a refresher on dry curls. I’ve paired this with Ouidad’s Botanical Boost Moisture Infusing & Refreshing Spray and have gotten THE best results on days old hair with and without the Botanical Boost spray. I strongly suggest you guys try it. I’m also really excited to try both products during the summer, as New York air is sooo different during the different seasons and I tend to do more wash and go’s. Don’t forget that your climate affects your hair curlies!!! Always try product under different conditions and on different lengths of your hair (big chop vs. 3″ of hair) before you write it off for yourself!
Have you tried anything in the Whipped Curls line? Which one is more your speed?
