In March I received my first award of recognition for my work with my blog. The ladies of LUSH Expressions, an all women entertainment company inspiring women to “Love Yourself and Stay Happy”, chose to honor myself and four other phenomenal women of substance and success at their first annual women’s expo. Honestly, I’m still in shock. I don’t do this for recognition, I do it for release. I enjoy having something I can channel my energy and creativity into. It’s mine; it grows as I do. My blog means a lot to me and to see that it means a lot to others as well is quite a humbling yet exciting feeling.
You really never know who’s watching. You never know who’s life you can touch and to me that’s one of the most amazing gifts in life. The feeling I get when I get inspired, uplifted, motivated and/or energized by a thought, comment, anecdote, joke or whatever has to be one of THE best feelings; it’s so pure. That spark of positivity that can lead to an endless number of other positive things is definitely a gift. I love the idea of something that I’m doing inspiring that same feeling in others. I love the idea that something I express may motivate someone to actively pursue their dream a little harder than they did the day before. It’s like a chain reaction of positivity.

I recently went to Bloomingdale’s to attend the Paul C. Brunson “It’s Complicated, LIVE” book signing event. I’d heard about the event through Daphne of UneAutreNaturelle who also runs the Long Island Naturals meet up group I belong to. I arrived in time to find a seat and was shortly joined by my sister in fab hair Jannelle. The event was hosted by the Urban League of Long Island Young Professionals and after meeting some of the ultra cool members at the event, I’m strongly contemplating joining.
After champagne and deserts, over the course of the night topics ranged from how Paul got started, how to find someone compatible, statistics on dating, reading facial expressions, what to wear in different dating situations, how to determine attractability, but definitely not me ending up on stage giving a Prince impersonation. Nope, that absolutely did not happen. lol.

Ya’ll know I love me some Twitter inspiration. Today I came across a tweet from @NecoleBitchie introducing me to the #13daycleanse. She and @THEAJZONE are making space in their lives to become better people by shedding unnecessary baggage in different aspects of life over the course of the next two weeks. I am down with the cause. I love a challenge and I think that openly committing to something is quite the incentive to following through. I welcome you all to follow these inspiring women and myself on our journey and to join along. I’ll be updating my progress here, and to follow along for yourself make sure to follow these ladies on twitter, Necole Bitchie on Facebook and AJ’s website TheRealAJ.com. I’ll also be tweeting the daily task so I’m pretty cool to follow on the Twittas too (hint, hint) —> @TVE_MsVixin.

A Little More Skin Before The Summer Fully Departs…..

Hey guys! So a few months ago Nyemiah (check out her style and our interview here) inspired me to cut up my own tees. I loved the way she did hers and after watching her cut one up in like 5 minuets on the hood of her car, I was ready to try my own.
I personally love summer because I can comfortably wear as little clothing as possible. If you have control of what your hands do, this really isn’t that difficult to do even if you’re not all that creative. I’ve always loved working with my hands and being creative, so this is right up my alley. Below is a video of one of my newest favorite YouTubers BackSyncFan creating a custom racer-back tee. Below the video is how mine came out.
The most you’ve got to lose is a tee shirt. Start with one you don’t mind tossing out if you screw it up. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll be creating your own designs. If you’ve never made your own clothes before, try something new and go for it. Summer’s basically over, but we still can get away with tiny tops and some bare skin for a few more weeks, right?
